Zeller Enters UK Market to Challenge Legacy SME Payments
Zeller is an Australian fintech unicorn that raised A$100 million in a Series B funding round in 2022 and now serves more than 100,000 businesses in its home market. The UK has 5.7 million small and medium-sized enterprises, but merchants often still need separate tools for accepting payments, banking, cards and expense management. The resulting costs and checkout friction create a key opening for new entrants.
Zeller formally entered the UK market on April 29, 2026, offering an integrated payments and financial services platform. The company estimates that merchants could cut card-processing fees by as much as 35% annually, with potential savings across the market totaling £5.2 billion. Research commissioned by Zeller also found that half of consumers had abandoned a purchase because of legacy payment technology, affecting more than £22.7 billion in transactions each year. More than 100 businesses joined during pre-launch testing.
