OpenAI Upgrades ChatGPT to Handle Logged-In Web Tasks

OpenAI is expanding ChatGPT from a conversational assistant into an agent capable of completing multi-step work on public and authenticated websites. Its cloud browser can search pages, click controls and fill forms on a separate remote computer. When a login is required, users enter credentials through a secure form; the model cannot see them, and OpenAI says ChatGPT neither stores those credentials nor uses them for AI training.

In guidance updated on Aug. 28, OpenAI said the cloud browser is available through ChatGPT Work on paid ChatGPT plans in supported regions, excluding Free and Go. An independent security model reviews the destination and sign-in form for phishing or deception before credentials are entered. The authenticated session can persist for later tasks, while ChatGPT pauses for user input or confirmation before consequential steps such as submitting a reservation.
