Uniswap Launches StablePair Hook to Capture More Stablecoin Trading Value
Stablecoin pairs typically trade near a fixed rate, but small deviations create arbitrage opportunities. Under static-fee automated market makers, bots can capture much of the value generated when prices return to parity, while liquidity providers bear inventory and depegging risks. Uniswap v4’s hooks allow pools to customize fees and trading rules, and StablePair Hook extends that architecture into one of decentralized finance’s largest markets, sharpening Uniswap’s challenge to stablecoin-focused rivals such as Curve.
Uniswap Labs launched StablePair Hook on Ethereum mainnet on Sept. 10, 2026, initially for USDC/USDG and USDC/USDT pools. The tool resets fees on every swap based on the pool’s distance from a reference price and whether the trade moves it toward or away from that level. Corrective trades outside a narrow band face a Dutch-auction fee that declines block by block. Uniswap said stablecoin-to-stablecoin volume on its protocol reached $43.4 billion in the second quarter of 2026, exceeding the combined total of the next three onchain venues.

The history behind this eventSpark Moves $150 Million in Stablecoins to Uniswap to Advance Shared Liquidity
Stablecoin issuers typically must build their own trading pools and manage market-making and inventory, fragmenting capital. DeFi protocol Spark has partnered with Uniswap Labs to develop the “FX Layer,” which uses shared liquidity on Uniswap v4 to connect different U.S. dollar stablecoins. As banks, fintech companies and payment providers enter the market, the infrastructure will be critical to swap depth, slippage and capital efficiency.
On June 25, 2026, Spark said it had deployed about $150 million across two Uniswap v4 pools on Ethereum: Sky’s USDS/PayPal USD (PYUSD) and USDS/Tether (USDT), both using USDS as the base asset. The next phase will move the funds to a DualPool hook that is still being audited, allowing idle capital to remain in yield-generating vaults and enter the pools only when needed for trades.
