Pornhub Drops USDT for USDC in Creator Payouts
Pornhub previously paid creator earnings in Tether-issued USDT but is now switching to Circle-issued USDC. Both are U.S. dollar stablecoins, but USDC emphasizes reserve disclosures and compliance management. As scrutiny of crypto payments tightens, the platform is using the change to reduce settlement and partnership risks.
Pornhub most recently announced that it would completely stop paying creator earnings in USDT and settle them in USDC instead, requiring creators to update their payment information by June 1. The platform has not disclosed how many people will be affected, the value of the funds being converted or the year of the formal switchover. It said only that USDC was a more reliable and secure payment option.
