Atlassian to Cut 1,600 Jobs as AI Drives Restructuring

Atlassian develops collaboration software including Jira and Confluence. Generative AI is reshaping software development workflows, enterprise purchasing expectations and the skills vendors need. The restructuring is therefore a sign of how AI is moving beyond productivity gains to affect technology jobs and profit strategies.

Atlassian said on March 11, 2026, that it would cut about 1,600 jobs, or roughly 10% of its global workforce, and redirect resources toward AI and enterprise sales. The company expects restructuring charges of $225 million to $236 million, with most to be recognized in the third quarter of fiscal 2026. The related actions and cash outlays are expected to be largely completed by the end of the fourth quarter of the same fiscal year.
