Ether.fi Expands Neobank With Tokenized Stocks, Aave Loans

3 reports · First detected 2026-08-13 · Last active 2026-08-13

Ether.fi began as an Ethereum liquid-staking and restaking protocol but has increasingly positioned itself as a non-custodial neobank combining savings, payments, yield and credit. Its Ether.fi Cash business moved to Optimism’s OP Mainnet in April 2026, bringing about 300,000 accounts, 70,000 active cards and $220 million in total value locked. Adding traditional-market exposure broadens the app beyond crypto-native users and puts tokenized assets, lending and everyday banking functions in one interface.

Ether.fi unveiled the updated app on Aug. 13, 2026, adding trading in tokenized stocks, metals and crypto assets, alongside fiat accounts and Aave-powered loans secured by users’ portfolios. The rollout follows a July 1 proposal for a dedicated Aave V4 deployment on OP Mainnet. That plan envisaged as much as $175 million of assets at launch, including $20 million from the Optimism Foundation, a $1.2 million incentive package and a $5 million GHO position, with 20% of revenue flowing to the Aave DAO.
