John Deere Launches AI Assistant for Farmers
John Deere is bringing generative artificial intelligence into farm management as growers contend with labor shortages, rising costs and increasingly volatile weather. Its “JD” chatbot draws on field, machine and operational data to answer questions in natural language, extending the agricultural equipment maker’s push beyond hardware and into data-driven services intended to improve productivity and farm economics.
The company has begun testing JD with advice covering equipment settings, fuel consumption and the timing of harvests. John Deere says the assistant is designed to help farmers lower operating costs and increase income while safeguarding customer data. It has not disclosed the size of the test, a commercial launch date or pricing, leaving the service’s eventual availability and business model unclear.
