iPASS Adds Mobile ID Verification to Bolster iPASS MONEY Transaction Security
iPASS has introduced Mobile ID verification for its iPASS MONEY electronic payment service, cross-checking telecom subscriber registration data against the device in use to reduce the risk of account impersonation. Unlike conventional one-time passwords sent by text message, which phishing sites may intercept, telecom-grade identity verification can strengthen security when users switch devices and authenticate transactions.
iPASS said it would replace some SMS-based OTP checks with mobile subscriber data verification and device confirmation. Users changing phones can verify their identity through their registered mobile number, reducing opportunities for fraudsters to steal verification codes. As of the announcement, iPASS had not disclosed an exact launch date, investment amount or applicable transaction limits.
