South Korea’s Shinhan Card Partners With Solana on Stablecoin Payment System
Shinhan Card, one of South Korea’s leading credit card companies, is partnering with the Solana Foundation to move stablecoins beyond cryptoasset trading and into everyday consumer payments. The collaboration will focus on Solana’s high-speed, low-cost onchain infrastructure and explore hybrid services connecting traditional finance with DeFi.
Shinhan Card recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Solana Foundation to build and test a stablecoin payment system on the Solana blockchain, assessing its viability in real-world consumer settings. Testing will cover the security of non-custodial wallets and the integration of Oracle transaction data. The two sides have not disclosed the value of the partnership, the signing date or a timetable for a formal launch.
