BitGo COO Says Onchain Finance Will Reshape Institutional Culture

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-25 · Last active 2026-07-25

Onchain finance records and settles assets on blockchain infrastructure, offering programmable transactions and potentially round-the-clock operations. For banks and payment companies, the shift matters because it reaches beyond adding a new product: custody, compliance, treasury, settlement and risk controls may all need to be redesigned. BitGo, an institutional digital-asset custodian and infrastructure provider, is positioning itself as a bridge between regulated finance and blockchain-based markets.

In a recent interview, BitGo Chief Operating Officer Jody Mettler said banks and payment providers had accelerated their participation in onchain ecosystems over the past 18 months. She said digital assets could fundamentally change how financial institutions operate and described the transition as a “cultural shift,” requiring changes in internal processes and organizational thinking alongside new technology. The interview announced no transaction value or deal, framing the development as an industry-wide operational transformation.
