Taiwan FSC Chair Unveils Trust-Based Finance Agenda

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-22 · Last active 2026-07-22

Taiwan’s financial sector depends on public trust because it safeguards household savings while supporting businesses and market stability. That role has become more consequential as artificial intelligence reshapes financial services and fraud risks grow alongside digital exclusion. With Taiwan’s Financial Consumer Protection Act marking its 15th anniversary in 2026, the Financial Supervisory Commission has put consumer protection, financial inclusion and responsible innovation at the center of its supervisory agenda.

On July 22, FSC Chairperson Jin-Lung Peng used the 2026 Financial Well-being Forum in Taipei to unveil a “trust-based finance” vision, saying the industry belongs to society rather than financial firms alone. The commission will focus on three priorities: applying AI to financial services, combating financial fraud, and expanding inclusive services across all age groups. The forum was jointly organized by the Economic Daily News and Bank SinoPac; Peng disclosed no new budget, investment amount or detailed implementation timetable.

Financial Supervisory Commission Chair Peng Jin-lung has designated “financial security” and “innovation-driven development” as the regulator’s twin policy priorities for 2026. The goals are to strengthen Taiwan’s capital markets while maintaining financial resilience and market order, and to improve capital matching and international competitiveness through the Asian Asset Management Center and innovative fundraising platforms.

Peng said the FSC will advance the Asian Asset Management Center, enhance innovative fundraising platforms, strengthen ESG disclosures and upgrade financial fraud prevention in 2026. It will also encourage financial institutions to give back to society.
