D-Link Launches Robotics Unit to Target Elder-Care Market
Taiwan’s shift into a super-aged society is intensifying demand for tools that can ease caregiver shortages, monitor people living alone and provide emotional support. D-Link Corp., best known for networking equipment, is extending its connectivity, cloud-management and artificial-intelligence capabilities into service robots. The company is betting on a robot-as-a-service, or RaaS, model that combines subscription software with connected hardware, aiming to lower deployment costs while generating recurring revenue from eldercare, safety monitoring and companionship applications.
D-Link said on July 22, 2026, that D-Link Robotics Co. was established in June, with Chief Executive Chang Chia-jui also serving as chairman. The unit will focus on smart companionship and safety care, integrating large language models, vision-language models, AI voice interaction and a cloud SaaS platform to give robots customizable personalities and emotional responses. Its first therapeutic companion robot is slated for the second quarter of 2027, with initial shipments targeted at more than 100,000 units. Target users include older adults, urban workers and empty-nest households.
