MediaTek Opens Taiwan’s First NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD R&D Data Center

3 reports · First detected 2026-05-07 · Last active 2026-05-07

MediaTek began building an R&D data center at the Tongluo Science Park in Miaoli in 2023 to meet growing computing demand for chip design, model training and inference driven by generative AI. The facility will support product development spanning edge AI to cloud AI. The campus is being developed in three phases of about 15 MW each. Disclosed building, mechanical and electrical engineering, and civil works contracts total NT$1.024 billion, while the overall investment has not been disclosed.

MediaTek opened the first phase on May 7, 2026, deploying Taiwan’s first DGX SuperPOD computing cluster powered by NVIDIA DGX B200 systems. It can process 138 billion tokens and complete more than 24,000 model-training iterations each month. The center uses single-phase immersion cooling, delivering a 2.6-fold improvement in cooling efficiency and reducing PUE to 1.1. Capacity could reach 45 MW when all three phases are completed.
