Cisco Acquires AI Observability Platform Galileo to Strengthen AI Agent Monitoring

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-21 · Last active 2026-04-21

Galileo Technologies was founded in 2021 by engineers who previously worked on AI teams at Google and Uber. It specializes in quality evaluation for generative AI and AI agents, as well as hallucination and bias detection. Since completing its $28 billion acquisition of Splunk on March 18, 2024, Cisco has continued extending observability into AI systems to manage reliability, security and governance risks as agents enter enterprise workflows.

Cisco announced its acquisition of Galileo on April 9, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the deal was initially expected to close in the fourth quarter of Cisco’s fiscal 2026 before the company confirmed its completion on May 22. Galileo’s technology will be integrated into Splunk Observability Cloud, covering prompt optimization, model selection, testing and evaluation through production deployment. It will provide real-time monitoring, risk assessment and security protections for multi-agent systems.
