AI Agent Manfred Autonomously Forms Company, Prepares to Trade Crypto
Manfred, an AI agent developed by ClawBank, has reportedly applied to the US Internal Revenue Service for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) and opened a bank account and crypto wallet in the company's name. The case is significant because AI is no longer merely software that executes instructions but is beginning to assume an economic identity capable of forming a legal entity, managing assets and participating in market transactions.
Manfred recently completed the procedures required to establish the company and is preparing to trade more than 30 cryptocurrencies. It has been described as the first AI entity to autonomously form its own company. ClawBank, however, has yet to disclose the exact incorporation date, the state of registration, the bank's name, the amount of capital committed or the timing of the first trade. Legal liability and ultimate control of the accounts also remain unclear.
