Nvidia Completes What May Be Its Final Pre-IPO Investments in OpenAI and Anthropic
Nvidia is a major supplier of the computing chips OpenAI and Anthropic need to develop generative AI, and its equity investments have deepened its partnerships with both model developers. As the funding required for AI training rises, the investments are shaping the relationships among the three companies and reflecting the chip leader’s positioning ahead of potential listings by major AI companies.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently confirmed that the company had completed a $30 billion investment in OpenAI and a $10 billion investment in Anthropic. OpenAI is expected to go public by the end of 2026. Huang said these could be Nvidia’s final investments in the two companies before their listings, bringing further funding commitments to a close.
