Argentina’s Fintech Industry Outlook for 2026
Argentina has long struggled with inflation, exchange-rate volatility and capital controls, prompting consumers and businesses to turn to digital wallets, instant transfers and alternative credit. The Central Bank of Argentina has promoted Open Banking since 2022 and, with World Bank support, backed the country’s 2020–2023 national financial inclusion strategy. Digital banking usage now exceeds 60%, making Fintech vital infrastructure for filling gaps left by traditional finance.
An industry review published on April 7, 2026, said Argentina has more than 300 Fintech companies, with payments accounting for about half. The market is projected to expand from $1.13 billion in 2024 to more than $4.2 billion by 2033. The payments market is estimated at $148 billion in 2026, up from $113 billion in 2025. Mercado Pago has more than 68 million users across the region, while off-platform payments exceeded $188 billion in 2025.
