Prentis Seeks $100 Million at $1 Billion Valuation

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-25 · Last active 2026-07-25

Prentis, founded in April 2026 by serial entrepreneur Ritankar Das, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman and Zynga founder Mark Pincus, is developing computer-use models that can navigate browsers, desktops and mobile devices. The lab is targeting routine workflows such as processing insurance claims and customs refunds, a segment that could shift enterprise AI from generating content to carrying out multistep work inside existing software. Its focus places Prentis in the growing market for agents designed to replace repetitive back-office tasks.

TechCrunch reported on July 24, 2026, that Prentis was in talks to raise $100 million at a $1 billion valuation, a deal that would give the months-old company unicorn status if completed. The startup has signed customer contracts worth as much as $50 million in aggregate and employs more than 25 people, according to the report. Prentis also says its Hive-32B model beats OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 on selected computer-use tests at roughly one-tenth the cost per task. The financing terms could still change.
