Samuel Yin Pursues Gogoro Founder Horace Luke Over NT$150 Million Debt
Gogoro founder Horace Luke borrowed from Mega International Commercial Bank to finance purchases of the electric-scooter company’s shares, with Samuel Yin acting as guarantor. Luke later accumulated about NT$150 million in unpaid principal and interest and has reportedly become unreachable. The dispute has moved beyond a personal financing default, exposing Yin to the guarantee and raising questions about whether Luke’s funds and share-sale proceeds can be traced across jurisdictions.
After repaying the debt as guarantor, Yin began legal action in January 2026 to recover the roughly NT$150 million. He filed suit with the Taipei District Court and also petitioned the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for cross-border discovery. The requests seek records showing fund flows through accounts held in Luke’s name and details of any liquidation of the Gogoro shares purchased with the loan, with the aim of identifying assets available for recovery.
