Interactive Brokers Broadens Asian Access With Taiwan, South Korea Trading
Interactive Brokers Group, a U.S.-based electronic brokerage listed as IBKR on Nasdaq, has been expanding direct access to Asian exchanges through a single multi-asset account. Taiwan is a key semiconductor hub, while South Korea offers global leaders in chips, automobiles and consumer technology. Bringing both markets onto IBKR’s platform reduces the operational burden for overseas retail and institutional investors that might otherwise need local brokerage relationships, currency arrangements and separate portfolio systems.
IBKR opened the Taiwan Stock Exchange on July 19, 2023, then added the Taipei Exchange on Nov. 18, 2025, with automatic conversion into New Taiwan dollars; Taiwan trading is unavailable to residents of Taiwan and mainland China. On May 7, 2026, it launched Korea Exchange access covering more than 2,700 securities in a market valued above $4 trillion. FX commissions can be as low as 0.20 basis point, or 0.0020% of trade value. Korean residents are also excluded from the Korea service.
