HomeTrust to Buy Blue Ridge in $448.1 Million All-Stock Deal
North Carolina-based HomeTrust is pursuing an Atlanta-to-Richmond growth strategy, while Virginia-based Blue Ridge Bankshares has been working through regulatory and operating challenges tied to its fintech partnerships. The combination offers Blue Ridge a path beyond those compliance troubles and gives HomeTrust a faster route to build scale across the southeastern United States, where community banks are increasingly using mergers to absorb rising technology and regulatory costs.
HomeTrust agreed to acquire Blue Ridge Bankshares for about $448.1 million in an all-stock transaction expected to close in the first quarter of 2027. The deal would significantly expand HomeTrust’s assets, branch network and geographic reach, strengthening its presence along the corridor from Atlanta to Richmond. Completion remains subject to regulatory clearances and shareholder approvals, with the merger bringing Blue Ridge’s Virginia franchise into HomeTrust’s broader southeastern banking operation.
