New Zealand Exchange Stacked Launches Self-Custodial Lightning Wallet to Promote Everyday Bitcoin Payments
New Zealand cryptocurrency exchange Stacked aims to move Bitcoin beyond an investment asset and into everyday payments. Its non-custodial model allows users to retain control of their private keys and funds. Compared with platforms that hold assets on customers’ behalf, self-custodial wallets can reduce custody risks arising from an exchange failure or hack.
Stacked recently formally launched its internally developed Lightning Network wallet, integrating Breez and Spark SDK. Through an open-banking framework, it also supports automated recurring Bitcoin purchases and utility-bill payments. Stacked has not yet disclosed the exact launch date, investment amount, fee rates or user data.
