As of July 20, 2026, Anthropic had blocked the API and CLI accounts of OpenClaw founder steipete, preventing the team from continuing its model compatibility tests. Reports did not disclose the exact date of the block, any amount involved or Anthropic's formal reason. Steipete said supporting Anthropic models would become more difficult for OpenClaw.
