Ethereum Meme Coin ASTEROID Surges Past $20 Million Market Cap on Cancer-Stricken Girl's Final Wish

ASTEROID is an Ethereum-based meme coin inspired by Asteroid, a Shiba Inu character designed by Liv Perrotto, a girl with cancer. An Asteroid plush toy served as the zero-gravity indicator aboard SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission in September 2024. Liv died in January 2026, and her mother later shared her final wish for Asteroid to become SpaceX's official mascot. The token, however, has no formal affiliation with SpaceX.

On April 16, 2026, media personality Glenn Beck reposted the wish and Elon Musk replied “ok.” ASTEROID's market capitalization surged from about $50,000 to more than $20 million within hours, then passed $100 million several days later. An anonymous wallet spent $575 on April 17 to buy 2.79 billion tokens and sold the entire holding five days later for 503 ETH, worth about $1.17 million. BingX opened spot trading on April 19.
