Anthropic Launches Anthropic Institute to Study AI’s Long-Term Social and Economic Impact

Anthropic, the frontier AI company behind Claude, has advanced its models over its five-year history from its first commercial product to systems capable of identifying major cybersecurity vulnerabilities and supporting research and development. As AI could reshape jobs, the economy and societal safety, the company established the Anthropic Institute to use internal data from its frontier lab to study and publicly share findings on the technology’s long-term impact.

On March 11, 2026, Anthropic announced the creation of the Anthropic Institute, led by co-founder Jack Clark. It brings together three teams focused on frontier red teaming, societal impacts and economic research, and will pursue projects including forecasting the pace of AI development and studying its interaction with legal systems. The company did not disclose the institute’s budget or investment amount.
