Taiwan's Robo-Advisory Assets Top NT$16 Billion as Accounts Exceed 240,000

2 reports · First detected 2026-04-10 · Last active 2026-04-11

Robo-advisory services use algorithms operated by investment firms or financial institutions to recommend portfolios based on customers' risk profiles, offering low entry thresholds and digital access. The business is regulated by Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission. Continued growth in assets and account numbers reflects rising acceptance of automated wealth management among small investors.

As of the end of February 2026, assets in Taiwan's robo-advisory market had reached NT$16.139 billion, formally surpassing NT$16 billion, while the number of customer accounts exceeded 240,000. Although the number of participating providers changed, assets under management and user numbers continued to grow steadily, indicating that adjustments by providers had not weakened market demand.

The history behind this event
Taiwan Robo-Advisory Assets Top NT$19 Billion as 16 Firms Compete2026-08-17 · 3 reports · similarity 0.90

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission opened the market to robo-advisory services in 2017, allowing financial institutions to use algorithms to recommend and rebalance portfolios based on clients’ risk profiles. Minimum investments of about NT$1,000 have helped draw younger and smaller investors, making the service a potential channel for financial inclusion and mass-market wealth management. Growth has nevertheless been constrained by concerns over investor trust, limited product differentiation and the challenge of building profitable business models.

The FSC’s latest figures show that 16 financial institutions now offer robo-advisory services, with assets under management rising 36.3% from a year earlier to NT$19.034 billion. Customer accounts have surpassed 250,000 roughly eight and a half years after the regulator authorized the business. Banks have delivered the strongest performance, benefiting from their established distribution networks and customer bases, while low entry thresholds have continued to improve investor acceptance despite lingering obstacles to broader market expansion.
