American Bitcoin Director Mateen Buys Nearly $2 Million of ABTC Shares
American Bitcoin Corp. (Nasdaq: ABTC), majority-owned by Hut 8 Corp. and backed by members of the Trump family, combines large-scale self-mining with purchases designed to build a corporate Bitcoin reserve. Its shares give investors equity exposure to both mining operations and the value of its Bitcoin treasury, making insider transactions closely watched. A director’s open-market purchase can signal conviction in the strategy, though it does not guarantee future operating performance or share-price gains.
Director Justin Mateen purchased 144,543 ABTC shares on Aug. 5, 2026, at a weighted average of $6.3964, followed by 162,438 shares on Aug. 6 at $6.1873, according to a filing made Aug. 7. The transactions, completed after American Bitcoin released second-quarter results on Aug. 3, totaled 306,981 shares and $1,929,607. They lifted Mateen’s holding to more than 492,000 shares, increasing his exposure to the miner’s operations and Bitcoin treasury.
