4 reports · First detected 2026-05-05 · Last active 2026-05-11

Solana is a public blockchain designed for high-throughput, low-cost transactions and widely used for decentralized finance and payment applications. Alpenglow is regarded as the largest consensus overhaul in Solana’s history. It aims to improve network speed, reliability and transaction finality, further strengthening Solana’s competitiveness as high-performance financial infrastructure.

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said at Consensus Miami 2026 that Alpenglow could launch as early as next quarter. The upgrade is now officially live for testing, with a key result being a reduction in transaction finality time to about 150 milliseconds. Test results will determine the deployment schedule and readiness for mainnet integration.
