Tunghai University Overhauls Board, Adding Fubon Chairman Daniel Tsai and Other Industry Leaders
Higher education worldwide faces pressure from falling birth rates, digital transformation and the need for stronger ties between academia and industry. Taiwan's private Tunghai University has responded by overhauling its board to strengthen governance. Its 36th board brings together leaders from finance, biomedicine, semiconductors, architecture and law, aiming to combine academic influence, industry resources and operational innovation while forging more direct industry links for university development and talent cultivation.
Taiwan's Ministry of Education formally approved the roster of Tunghai University's 36th board on March 30, 2026. Eight of its 15 members are new, marking the biggest board reshuffle in the university's history. New members include Fubon Group Chairman Daniel Tsai, Marketech International President Lin Yu-ye, Academia Sinica academician Pan-Chyr Yang, former National Cheng Kung University President Huey-Jen Su and architect Kris Yao, bringing expertise in sustainable finance, digital innovation and semiconductors.
