BitoGroup, O-Bank Launch Taiwan’s First Corporate Stablecoin Settlement Pilot

4 reports · First detected 2026-09-11 · Last active 2026-09-12

Dollar-backed stablecoins are gaining traction in cross-border trade, but corporate users have typically had to open exchange accounts and separately manage wallets, private keys, token conversion, bank deposits and reconciliation. BitoGroup and O-Bank are linking Bito.ONE, BitoGroup’s institutional settlement platform, with the bank’s corporate online banking system. The project matters because it places virtual-asset service provider infrastructure inside a bank-led compliance and risk-control framework, lowering the technical and operational barriers to blockchain-based payments.

The companies announced the pilot on Sept. 11, 2026, with O-Bank set to launch the service on Sept. 15, making it Taiwan’s first bank to integrate cross-border stablecoin collection into corporate online banking. Approved businesses must hold both an O-Bank corporate account and a BitoGroup corporate account. They can issue collection orders for overseas buyers to pay in USDT or USDC, each designed to track the U.S. dollar at 1:1. Proceeds can be converted into dollars and credited to an O-Bank dollar account within one day; no initial transaction value was disclosed.

The Backstory

The history behind this event
Payment Giants Push Stablecoins Into Back-End Settlementfirst seen 2026-08-22 · 1 reports · similarity 0.76 · same topic: Stablecoins

Stablecoin adoption is shifting away from asking consumers and merchants to handle crypto directly. Payment providers are instead embedding tokenized dollars into acquiring, card, payroll and treasury systems while preserving familiar bank-account and fiat settlement experiences. That makes compliance, liquidity, conversion and distribution more important than issuing a token. PYMNTS data cited on Aug. 21 showed adoption remains selective: 13% of middle-market companies use stablecoins, while 5% use other cryptocurrencies.

Rain CEO Farooq Malik said more than 100,000 merchants already receive payments involving stablecoins through Visa’s network, often without knowing a digital dollar sits upstream. On Aug. 20, Deel and Mesh announced wallet verification for stablecoin payroll across more than 300 wallets and exchanges; Deel operates in 150 countries and serves over 40,000 customers. Visa is also seeking a multi-region licensed settlement partner after Mastercard acquired BVNK, underscoring the contest to control links between tokenized funds, banks and merchants.

BitoGroup Launches Enterprise Virtual-Asset Services and Stablecoin Settlement Solutionfirst seen 2026-07-07 · 4 reports · similarity 0.88

Taiwan’s total imports and exports reached $1.12 trillion in 2025, leaving businesses grappling with cross-border payment efficiency and exchange-rate risks. On June 30, 2026, the Legislative Yuan passed the Virtual Asset Service Act on its third reading, bringing stablecoins under regulatory oversight. In response, BitoGroup is using Bito.Enterprise to connect banks and businesses while developing stablecoin payment and collection, loyalty-point conversion and cryptocurrency payment services.

BitoGroup launched Bito.Enterprise on July 7, 2026, initially introducing Bito.ONE for financial institutions. The service uses stablecoins pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar for settlement, supports banking systems and corporate ERP platforms, and incorporates AML/CFT controls and sanctions-list screening. Pilot programs are under way with four banks, and 10 companies are being recruited for trials. The participating banks and transaction amounts have not been disclosed.
