Spain Emerges as Europe’s Leading EURC Retail Market
EURC is a Circle-issued stablecoin designed to maintain a one-to-one value with the euro, allowing users to make euro-denominated payments and transfers on blockchain networks. As the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, or MiCA, takes effect in stages, the ability of compliant stablecoins to move beyond trading and into everyday retail payments has become an important gauge of real-world crypto adoption.
Data from crypto banking platform Brighty showed that Spain accounted for about 36% of Europe’s retail EURC transaction volume from 2025 through the first quarter of 2026, making it the region’s largest market. Circle and Brighty have not disclosed the actual transaction value for the period, but Spain’s share indicates that EURC is gaining traction more quickly in retail payments under MiCA.
