Guardoc Health Taps Amazon Nova for Clinical Document Processing

Long-term care providers rely on clinical records that often combine scanned PDFs, checkboxes, tables, signatures and handwritten notes. Errors or omissions can affect patient care, reimbursement and regulatory compliance, while manual document processing costs U.S. healthcare organizations hundreds of millions of dollars annually. Guardoc Health has built a workflow using Amazon Nova models through Amazon Bedrock, alongside Amazon Textract, to extract, classify and trace information for skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.

AWS said on July 27, 2026, that Guardoc Health’s system processes more than 1 million documents on peak days and uses Amazon Nova Pro to interpret handwriting, signatures, checkbox states and mixed-format pages. Guardoc reported that Nova 2 achieved 90% recall and 94% specificity in medical-condition classification. Across deployments, documentation errors fell by an average 46%, audit fines declined 70% and litigation exposure dropped 65%. The company also reported more than $400,000 in annual return on investment for a single facility.
