Twitch Lets Streamers Opt Out of Amazon AI Training

Amazon-owned Twitch generates a vast pool of livestream clips, channel text and chat records that could help train generative AI systems. The use of that material has raised questions about consent, privacy and creators’ control over their work, making opt-out mechanisms an increasingly important test of how technology platforms govern data used for artificial intelligence development.

As of Aug. 13, 2026, Twitch streamers can opt out of having their clips, channel text and chat history used to train future Amazon generative AI models. The choice will not disable baseline AI-powered services such as captioning assistance and platform safety protections. However, when users post in another streamer’s chat, whether those messages may be used for training will depend on the settings selected by that channel’s owner.
