Alibaba Launches Happy Xiami AI Music Model in Taihe Partnership

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-18 · Last active 2026-08-18

Alibaba shut down its Xiami Music streaming service on Feb. 5, 2021, after years of intense competition and rising licensing costs in China’s digital-music market. Roughly five years later, the company is reviving the Xiami brand through generative artificial intelligence, targeting a music value chain that spans songwriting, vocals and distribution while seeking a workable framework for copyright clearance and commercial use.

Alibaba has launched Happy Xiami 1.0, an end-to-end model that generates a complete song from text prompts, including lyrics, composition, arrangement and vocals. The company also announced a strategic partnership with Taihe Music Group, a major Chinese-language music company. The two sides plan to combine Alibaba’s AI technology with Taihe’s copyright catalog and distribution resources to build an ecosystem for commercially released AI-generated music.
