Wanda Pet Vendor Cyberattack Raises Data Leak Concerns

Wanda Pet, a Taiwanese pet-supplies retailer, said a cyberattack on an outside service provider may have exposed some data, highlighting the risks companies face through third-party technology partners. Such incidents can affect customer privacy and confidence even when a retailer’s own core systems are not directly breached, making vendor access controls and data-handling practices a key part of corporate cybersecurity.

In its latest material disclosure, Wanda Pet said unidentified attackers infiltrated the vendor’s information system and that some data was suspected to have leaked. The company did not provide the incident date, number of affected people, categories of exposed information or any estimated financial loss. It said no credit-card or bank-account data was connected to the vendor’s system, leaving payment transactions and member payment security unaffected.
