Meta Begins Testing AI Pendant, Targets 10 Million Wearable Shipments in 2026

2 reports · First detected 2026-05-30 · Last active 2026-06-01

Meta has invested in VR and smart glasses through Reality Labs for years and is now shifting its resources toward an AI wearables platform. The new device will incorporate Limitless’ ambient-sensing and recording technology, with a focus on continuous connectivity, meeting transcription and real-time summaries. Meta has not disclosed its development spending or pricing, but the initiative will be pivotal to its ability to establish an AI access point beyond smartphones.

Meta plans to test an “always-on” AI pendant within the next year while developing four smart-glasses models and reviving its Malibu 2 smartwatch project. The company aims to increase wearable-device shipments to 10 million units in the second half of 2026. It has not yet disclosed exact launch dates, pricing or each product category’s share of shipments.
