DoorDash Taps Stripe-Backed Tempo Blockchain for Stablecoin Payments

4 reports · First detected 2026-04-21 · Last active 2026-04-23

DoorDash connects consumers, merchants and delivery workers across more than 40 countries and generated nearly $75 billion in sales for local merchants in 2025. Cross-border payouts have long depended on local banks and payment rails, resulting in varying costs, exchange rates and settlement times. Tempo, built by Stripe and Paradigm, is designed for stablecoin settlement, making the partnership an important test of using blockchain for a major platform’s everyday payment flows.

On April 21, 2026, Tempo announced that it was building stablecoin payment infrastructure with DoorDash, beginning with cross-border merchant payouts. No timetable for a full rollout was disclosed. The blockchain’s mainnet went live in March. Stripe, Coastal Bank and Latin American financial platform ARQ have also moved parts of their payment operations on-chain, while Stripe enables businesses in more than 100 countries to hold, send and receive stablecoins.
