Bitcoin Treasury Firms See $3 Trillion Market for BTC-Backed Digital Credit

1 reports · First detected 2026-05-07 · Last active 2026-05-07

“Digital credit” refers to yield-bearing securities, including perpetual preferred stock, backed by Bitcoin held on corporate balance sheets. The products are designed to reduce investors’ direct exposure to BTC price volatility. Strategy pioneered the category in 2025, followed by Strive with SATA, turning corporate Bitcoin holdings into a financing tool.

On May 7, 2026, Strive Chairman and CEO Matt Cole told Consensus Miami that issuance of digital credit had reached about $10 billion less than a year after the category emerged. He said the global credit market is worth about $300 trillion, meaning a 1% allocation to Bitcoin could create roughly $3 trillion in demand. Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company is also evaluating related products.
