World Liberty Received $100 Million From Businessman in UK Money-Laundering Probe
World Liberty Financial is a decentralized-finance venture linked to U.S. President Donald Trump’s family and the issuer of the WLFI governance token. Its fundraising has drawn scrutiny over investor identities, concentrated token ownership and potential conflicts involving a sitting president’s business interests. A $100 million commitment from one buyer is therefore significant not only for the project’s finances, but also for compliance questions surrounding funds entering a politically connected crypto enterprise.
The New York Times reported that businessman Bobby Zhou provided $100 million to World Liberty, in what related reports described as the largest WLFI token purchase. Zhou has not been charged with a crime. British authorities confirmed that a money-laundering investigation involving him remained active through the end of July, leaving the investment under scrutiny even though no criminal allegation against him has been proven in court.
