Cadence, NVIDIA Partner on Robotics AI and Chip-Design AI Agents

Cadence is a leading electronic design automation (EDA) provider, while NVIDIA supplies GPUs, CUDA-X and Omniverse. Robotics AI requires repeated training in trusted virtual environments, and physical chip layout is also highly time-consuming. By linking multiphysics simulation, accelerated computing and agentic AI, the companies aim to shorten the journey from simulation to deployment for robots and from design to mass production for chips.

Cadence and NVIDIA expanded their partnership at CadenceLIVE on April 15, 2026, integrating Cadence physics models with NVIDIA Isaac and Cosmos. They also unveiled AgentStack, which covers physical chip design. ChipStack has already been deployed in early-stage programs at more than 10 customers, increasing design-verification productivity by up to 10-fold and accelerating engineering workflows by up to 100-fold. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cadence is one of the world's leading providers of electronic design automation, or EDA, with tools spanning chip design, verification and implementation. As process complexity rises and the semiconductor industry faces a talent shortage, Cadence is introducing agentic AI into engineering workflows. The goal is to enable systems to plan and execute tasks proactively, reducing the burden of repeated manual tuning.

Cadence recently showcased its agentic AI strategy at a technology forum, using the Level 1-to-Level 5 autonomous-driving scale to describe the progression toward autonomous EDA. Its ultimate objective is a “virtual engineer” capable of completing design work independently. Cadence has not yet announced a formal commercial launch date, pricing or related investment for Level 5.
