Chunghwa Telecom Tests 5G, Agentic AI Drone Food Delivery
Low-altitude logistics is emerging as a commercial test case for 5G enterprise networks and autonomous aviation. Chunghwa Telecom’s project in Chiayi combines a 5G aerial corridor, drones and agentic AI to automate delivery operations. The significance extends beyond a technology demonstration: the trial is designed to assess whether routine drone delivery can operate at scale in non-remote areas under continuous network-based monitoring.
In its latest demonstration, Chunghwa Telecom used agentic AI to dispatch delivery missions automatically while its 5G network supported flight monitoring along the aerial corridor. The company said the service has moved into regular delivery testing outside remote communities and has completed nearly 1,200 delivery missions. The accumulated flights provide an early operational benchmark for the commercial viability of low-altitude logistics in everyday service environments.
