5 reports · First detected 2026-03-20 · Last active 2026-04-27

Seeking to capture complex user sentiment that conventional surveys struggle to convey, Anthropic used its Claude-powered Anthropic Interviewer to conduct open-ended interviews and then analyzed the responses with a classifier. Spanning multiple countries and languages, the research has been described as the largest qualitative AI study ever conducted. It highlights conflicting views about AI’s potential to improve efficiency and daily life, as well as fears about job losses.

Anthropic released the findings on March 18, 2026. A total of 80,508 Claude.ai users across 159 countries and 70 languages took part during one week in December 2025. Of the participants, 18.8% were most excited about AI helping them improve their professional performance, while 13.5% focused on managing their lives. Unreliable output was the biggest concern for 27%, exceeding the 22% worried about jobs and the economy.
