Officially Licensed S&P 500 Perpetual Futures Contract Launches on Hyperliquid
The S&P 500 is a key benchmark for U.S. large-cap stocks, with more than $1 trillion in exposure traded daily through related futures, options, ETFs and structured products. Perpetual contracts have no expiration date, allowing traders to maintain leveraged long or short positions indefinitely. The official licensing deal marks a further expansion of traditional financial indexes into onchain derivatives markets.
S&P Dow Jones Indices said on March 18, 2026, that it had licensed Trade[XYZ] to launch the first and only officially licensed S&P 500 perpetual contract on Hyperliquid, offering eligible non-U.S. investors round-the-clock trading throughout the year. Since October 2025, cumulative trading volume on XYZ markets has exceeded $100 billion, with annualized volume topping $600 billion.
