U.S. Property Tax Revenue Rises 4.8%, Fueling Tax-Service Demand
Property taxes are a major source of funding for U.S. local governments, supporting schools, public safety and infrastructure while adding directly to homeowners’ carrying costs. Rising home values and assessments have increased that burden in many markets, prompting states to pursue rebates, exemptions or caps and creating demand for specialist firms that help owners review assessments, file appeals and manage tax liabilities.
U.S. property tax revenue reached $826.8 billion in 2025, up 4.8% from a year earlier, according to an analysis by the National Association of Home Builders. The increase marked a ninth consecutive quarter of growth. As collections climbed, companies offering assessment reviews, appeal support and other property-tax management services gained traction alongside legislative efforts in multiple states to provide relief to homeowners.
