Aven Launches Bitcoin-Backed Visa Card With Up to $1 Million Credit
Bitcoin holders seeking cash have typically had to sell tokens, potentially creating a capital-gains tax event and giving up future price exposure. Aven’s product treats bitcoin more like collateral behind a home-equity line, connecting an asset-backed loan to Visa’s payment network. The structure lets borrowers spend against their holdings or draw cash without an initial sale, widening crypto’s use in everyday finance, though falling bitcoin prices can still force additional collateral, repayment or liquidation.
Aven launched the Aven Bitcoin Visa Card on April 27, 2026, at Bitcoin Conference 2026 in Las Vegas. It offers credit lines from $1,000 to $1 million, with 30%, 50% and 70% loan-to-value tiers carrying annual percentage rates of 7.99%, 9.99% and 11.99%, respectively. Card purchases earn unlimited 2% cash back. Pledged bitcoin is held by BitGo, while cash withdrawals and balance transfers can be placed into fixed-rate plans lasting as long as 10 years.
