Bittensor is a decentralized AI network that uses blockchain technology to coordinate computing resources and model contributions, with TAO as its native token. Unlike computing infrastructure built centrally by a single technology company, the network completed pretraining of a 72-billion-parameter large language model. The feat suggests that distributed nodes may also be capable of handling costly AI training and drew the attention of NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.

Huang recently called the achievement “incredible” in an interview and described it as a major technological breakthrough. Following his remarks, TAO rose about 20% in 24 hours. As of the publication of related reports on July 19, 2026, the combined market capitalization of Bittensor ecosystem tokens had reached $1.5 billion, reflecting a rapid influx of investment into the distributed AI theme.
