London Stock Exchange Plans LSE 24 for Near-Continuous Weekday Trading
Global exchanges are extending access as investors seek to react to news across time zones and crypto markets normalize round-the-clock trading. London Stock Exchange’s planned LSE 24 will sit separately from its Main Market and target digital, algorithmic and agent-based trading. TD Cowen said the larger significance lies in LSEG’s push toward automated execution and digital post-trade infrastructure, including its forthcoming Digital Securities Depository, rather than simply adding overnight hours.
London Stock Exchange announced the plan on July 21, 2026. LSE 24 is due to operate Monday through Friday from 17:00 to 07:50 London time, pausing for 30 minutes from 18:30 for end-of-day processing, while the Main Market retains its 08:00-to-16:30 session. Client testing is scheduled by end-2026, with exchange-traded products targeted for the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval; equities could follow. LSEG disclosed no investment amount.
