Zions Bancorp Revamps Tech Leadership to Focus on AI and Stablecoins
U.S. regional bank Zions Bancorp has completed a multiyear modernization of its core systems, laying the groundwork for the adoption of emerging financial technologies. As large banks step up investment in AI, stablecoins and tokenized assets, Zions has reorganized its technology decision-making structure to shorten product development timelines and remain competitive.
Zions Bancorp recently split its former chief technology officer’s responsibilities between two senior executives, who will jointly oversee technology strategy and execution. The bank plans to begin testing stablecoins and tokenized deposits in 2026 while expanding its use of AI. It has not disclosed the investment amount, scale of the tests or a formal commercial launch date.
