ASUS Integrates Edge Computing Unit to Pursue Sovereign AI, Eyes Up to 100% Server Growth
Sovereign AI refers to a deployment model in which governments or cities retain domestic control over data, models and computing capacity, supporting cybersecurity, regulatory compliance and digital autonomy. As generative AI shifts from centralized training toward large-scale inference, computing demand is expanding beyond data centers to cities and endpoint devices. ASUS is therefore treating servers, cloud services and edge computing as parts of a single market strategy.
ASUS co-CEO Samson Hu said at the AI City International Forum on March 18, 2026, that the edge computing unit within the company's Internet of Things business would be incorporated into the Infrastructure Solutions Business Group, or IS BG, established on March 1. The move will connect cloud services, urban sovereign AI and front-end devices. ASUS did not disclose the value of the integration and is targeting 50% to 100% year-on-year growth in its server business in 2026, with the upper end of 100% as its stretch goal.
