Solana Clients Anza and Firedancer Introduce Post-Quantum Signature Scheme Falcon
Quantum computers could eventually break current public-key cryptography, threatening blockchain transaction signatures and asset security. Solana’s two major validator clients, Anza and Firedancer, are therefore testing Falcon in an effort to strengthen post-quantum security while maintaining the network’s high throughput.
Anza and Firedancer have both introduced test implementations of Falcon, though reports did not disclose a date for a formal launch. Jump Crypto said Falcon has the smallest signature size among NIST’s post-quantum signature schemes, reducing the data burden. The development did not involve fundraising or transaction amounts.
